The UV protection necessary for the white iPhone didn't come out of thin air. The added thickness was likely to provide an additional layer of protection. I'd be curious to see its innards, which is no doubt just around the corner. C'mon iFixit, rip it apart!

You're quite welcome.
I love Maher, but most lame comedy ever? What about Me and the Chimp, It's About Time, Captain Nice, The Lucy Show, Family Matters, Webster, and Glenn Beck?
I would like to see them pull off a change of actor for once, without changing the character. I think it's an insult to the audience's intelligence that networks think we can't accept someone else in the role. They always go for the knee-jerk reaction, which is to kill off the character. Give us some credit, and a chance for another actor to make the role his own. It's not like it's unheard of. How many James Bonds have there been??
They did it with Darren on Bewitched too.

I'm not questioning those reporting their first-hand experience with an unacceptable level of dropped calls, but the posted repair report drafted by a Genius Bar tech is hardly documentation of AT&T's service levels, much less an official tolerance of that level. This tech was only reporting that he examined the iPhone and it was performing according to spec, and that its performance in use would be consistent with whatever level of service AT&T was providing at the time.
I realize this is beside the point for those disappointed with their AT&T service, but someone was wrong on the Internet, and it's my lot in life to stay up past 1 a.m. to straighten things like this out. <sigh>

Even more entertaining is the fact that Apple is so arrogant they fail to realize how stupid they look.
Suing their biggest vendor.
It doesn't get any more stupid than that.
They're not suing them to make money, or protect their patents.
It's the trademark they are protecting. They'll probably lose in court, but win outside of it.

What a freaking RIP-OFF. You could buy 20 new songs a year for that instead (well not on Apple anymore sine they royally screwed everyone on some BS basis of "85 cents songs" to offset the "$1.29" ones except that as most of us predicted, there are hardly any 85 cents songs in existence yet a heck of lot of $1.29 ones. In other words, all they did was jack up prices to cover crap artists who can't sing and don't write their own songs and make farting noises and call it art.)
Meanwhile, what good would this service do? Do you seriously think they're going to let you access your music that you did NOT buy from iTunes??? (i.e. your CD collection dumped to iTunes) NO WAY. You'd have to UPLOAD the entire library first. How LONG would that take? Ridiculous. Then you miss a payment and they delete it all.... It's far more likely it's only for songs you already bought (in which case you could already just 'buy' them again and download them for free; in other words the service is worthless).
What most people would prefer I think is a flat fee music-on-demand service where you can listen to ANY music you want from the entire library. Pandora, Sonus, etc. already offer this service so Apple's "retrieve your own library online" is stupid, IMO. You could rent some storage somewhere and just upload your music there and download it anywhere on the Net WITHOUT APPLE even being involved. The whole thing strikes me as a cash grab from Apple to make you pay for the music you already paid for ALL OVER AGAIN. Bought 100 songs? 5 years you bought 'em again. No value.
My entire music library is only 70GB in AAC without music videos. That would almost fit on an iPod Touch 64GB or USB 64GB stick as it is, let alone my Netbook which has 160GB on it and my MBP which has 500GB. So the ONLY way this service could be useful is if I could access ALL MY MOVIES from anywhere on the Net. That would require 2.6TB of storage, though. I don't see Apple covering that and I wouldn't even want to TRY to upload all those movies from my own library (and Apple doesn't even sell (let alone in good quality) 40% of them and 95% of the HD ones.
No, a flat fee for unlimited rentals (music and movies) would be a good deal. I don't see Apple offering that any time soon, if EVER.

Disappointing.
Your 4G on your evo cant hold LTEs underpants :p I have the thunderbolt and while it has its flaws, LTE isnt one of them. Battery would fit the bill for a problem though, however, I got the extended battery. While bulky, worth it.

How in the world would $20 a YEAR be too much? You are talking about streaming music from a company that goes to great lengths NOT to sell your information to others. If you're too cheap for that, then use free Pandora and have your whole life story sold off to people for god knows what.

Great pictures.
Proof positive that Apple did modify the phone but not the antenna. How do I know that?
Because you've all convinced me that Steve The Great, is never wrong.
Oh crap! Did I just say that? LOL

I don't know if I should laugh or cry ...
People are freaking out because of a service that is 5.4 cents a day
People are calling their days ruined because of a service is $1.6 a month
People are crying foul because of a service for $20 a year
Get real people - no company owes you anything for free. If you are cheap and won't pay, just don't sign up - but don't run around crying claiming that you deserver everything for free.

Depending on how useful the service is, one hundred dollars a year would probably be worth it.

This is actually an incorrect report that Microsoft has tried to correct, but it keeps getting reported.

I know we jump all over MS for spreading FUD... We shouldn't do the same.

It's a Hexbug. I bought it at Brookstone today.
It's a robot.

I want to get the inchworm next.
That's cool. I saw the youtube video "Hexbug madness" and I just laughed through the whole video. It makes me want to buy 10 of them and let them run loose around the office at work.

No desire whatsoever for an iPad, actually, I'd never use it :p (Plus it's expensive, my Kindle was only $139; $39 after I sold my original Kindle!)
Exactly, it's expensive. But, worth it if you've got the monay :p

Wow, amazing how emotional people always get whenever I make a statement that could sound slightly anti-iPod... I know you love your iPod and all (I am very fond of mine myself), but over the last few years Apple has been focusing a dispropotional amount of energy into their cute little gadget which has massively boosted their profits. For those of us that don't salivate over all things iPod, I think this is too bad.
That is all.Dude...
INTEL TRANSITION >> BRAND NEW ARCHITECTURE for the newest Towers >> 24" IMACS >> NEW MACBOOKS >> BUMP IN SPECS for MAC MINI >> LEOPARD soon and will be KICKASS
Just because people won't buy a $1200-$4000 computer as fast as they buy a $249 iPod is not Apple's fault. It's economics. Plus the same people who are buying the iPod are oftentimes the same people buying 2, 3 or more 'Pods for their relatives as gifts.
Give Apple a break. Their computer line-up is excellent.

Bah, these things are rubbish. The scroll wheel clogs up with dirt, just as scroll ball mice did in days gone by - except there is no user access to clean it thoroughly. Apple need to re-think the design on this one before updating it.
And what makes you think that a fix for that is not part of this update?
If they come out with a Bluetooth mouse, I am all over it. My wrists get very tired using my Macbook's trackpad all day.

Sober up, Steve. Less time on Time Machine and more time on solidifying the system.
AppleTalk: Who uses it, and why?
I'm pretty sure that any time you use Personal file sharing, you are using AppleTalk.
EDIT: More info... Personal File Sharing is based off of Apple Filing Protocol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Filing_Protocol). From wikipedia:
AFP versions 3.0 and greater rely exclusively on TCP/IP (port 548 or 427) for establishing communication, supporting AppleTalk only as a service discovery protocol. The AFP 2.x family supports both TCP/IP and AppleTalk for communication and service discovery. Many third-party AFP implementations use AFP 2.x, thereby supporting AppleTalk as a connection method. Still earlier versions rely exclusively on AppleTalk. For this reason, some older literature refers to AFP as "AppleTalk Filing Protocol". Other literature may refer to AFP as "AppleShare," the name of the Mac OS 9 (and earlier) AFP client.
