Sounds like someone didn't take the time to read the post. If you wouldn't use it much you're implying you wouldn't use the iPod... period.
sorry, i said it wrong. i guess i meant to say that i wouldn't go out and buy a new ipod just for this feature

one battery? how does that work?
Low power drain, it can run on one battery but runs longer on two. Might also be nice for those who found the old ones too heavy.

I'm guessing Josh is just after some hits.
iPhone 5 will just be the iPhone 4 with a better antenna design and faster internals. iPhone 6 will probably have a re-design.

It must just be where I live but...everyone I know uses AIM, ichat, or adium (my weapon of choice) I dont have a single friend that uses yahoo or msn
It does vary quite a lot by where you live. Living in Sweden (and coming from the UK) just about everyone I know uses MSN.

Would it be out of line for me to suggest that AT&T should hire an outside agency to determine what the normal dropped call percentage is in each market, and then offer those markets a monthly discount on their rate equal to that percentage?
I am in Southern California, Orange County area and would say my dropped call rate is around 20%. I spent some time in San Francisco in July and the service was horrible, my biggest problem was with data and the accuracy of maps ... which can be an issue when you're walking around a town like that and you've never been there.
Stupid question, but they don't already use an outside agency for that?
OT: I used to live in Aliso Viejo (OC) and had Cingular for my carrier. Over a 60 day period, the service got so bad in my house I could no longer make/receive phone calls. When I called CS to complain about the service, I was told that the contract I signed never states Cingular was required to provide cell service. I still don't know if that was true or not, but I dropped them that day and went with VZW.

Any idea where the best place for a black 16 wifi would be? I think that's all I really need, no 3g and i'll only have apps, maybe a movie here or there when traveling, no? Brea is the closest to me but it sounds like a battlefield, i'd prefer a Best Buy since I have giftcards but my recent time spent there makes me feel like i'd rather spend the money in gift cards to not have to go there again.
Or just do what I did. Buy one of whatever they have, and trade for the 16 WiFi and cash.

A sales rep reply is now how low the credibility standards have fallen?
While you are collecting more hard data like this, I'll be prepping my Black card for the purchase of a pair of new iPhone 5s in June.

This is a false rumor. Absolutely no way will this happen.
First of all Google failed with their TV.
Second of all, it is much better to have the components separate. You can more easily pass the audio to a home entertainment system for surround sound. With a component built into the TV, you have cables going back in the other direction to the receiver. If audio and video both take the same path there is less change of them getting out of sync.
I thought it was unlikely too,but after reading this thread, with multitudes of people flatly stating it will never happen,I'm leaning much more toward them actually making a television.
The amount of certainty with which you make a prediction is inversely proportional to it's likelihood of being accurate.

It's interesting how many people blast Apple. They completely retooled the smart phone/mobile phone platform.
I really enjoy Apple products, and have since 1996. They always just work, sure the hardware at times can get dated between updates; but things still just work. Is Apple greedy? No they are like any company, they want to make a profit.
But it is not Apple's fault that so many companies are playing catch-up. Those companies that are playing catch-up are the truly greedy ones. They thought they could continue to pass off mediocre products and consumers would continue to purchase them. They spent no money on design, r and d, and many other aspects that make a product great. So they let Apple simply slide into the market and grab up market share. Ehhh...it's no conspiracy, these companies just didn't keep their eye on the ball.
Maybe some of the folks on here should be happy that Apple has become mainstream. Apple gave geeks everywhere the ability to have something in common to talk about with that hot chick at the coffee shop using an iPhone or Macbook. Sorry just trying to throw a positive in there.

I still usually buy CDs for music I care about, if what I am after is not easily obtainable on CD I buy from an online store who offer 320kbps files when possible. Market forces are the only way they (Amazon, iTunes etc) will ever higher quality or lossless.

wow... that is such ****! pardon my french but that is rediculous... they gonna discount the bill by a 30%? they ought to. totally unacceptable.
I got verizon, and I RARELY get dropped calls nowadays, the service got better over the years... im not gonna lie and say it never happens, but i dont remember the last time i had one.
to be fair with AT&T i gotta ask, are those calls only 30 seconds long or 30 minutes long and then gets dropped? 30 second dropped call would piss me off compared to a 30 minute one. if it drops at 30 minutes AT&T is doing ya a favor not accidently running up the minutes hahah

Sheen just keeps getting worse. I wonder how long it will take for him to hit bottom.
Of all the amazing claims that Charlie Sheen has made over the past few weeks, about Adonis DNA and mercury surfboards and AA Nazis and lions and tiger blood and bears, this one might be the most surprising: On Wednesday, he called into "The Dan Patrick Show" to announce, "This could be my final interview."
Three weeks have passed since Sheen first contacted the radio program, launching an unexpected press tour that's included a number of radio stations, morning-show interviews, late-night talk-show appearances and his own self-produced Ustream show, "Sheen's Korner." ("Hey, it's must-see TV," he quipped, sounding a little exhausted.) Earlier Wednesday morning, he even appeared on KRTH-FM (101.1) in Los Angeles. But Sheen later told Patrick, "[This] is where it all began and where it all ends, you know?"
Asked what brought such an abrupt end to his interviews, he said, "All they do is glad-hand me to get into my home, then they vilify me. ... At the end of the day, it's about ratings and commerce. They act concerned, but their behavior is completely the opposite." Sheen said that made him feel "bitter."
Patrick, however, seemed genuinely concerned about the actor. "Are you OK?" he asked Sheen.
"I'm better than OK," Sheen insisted. "I'm me. I'm winning." But he didn't sound convinced.
Patrick also asked if he was personally responsible for Sheen's very troubled interviews. "I wouldn't say you caused all of it," Sheen deadpanned. "Maybe 97 percent."
The actor also denied accusations that he'd been "flubbing my lines" or doing cocaine on the set of "Two and a Half Men." But he accepted that heds been axed from the show, and he said he thought that John Stamos and Rob Lowe, both rumored as possible replacements for his character, would be fine substitutions. (He'd previously slammed Stamos in the press.) "I think they're both fabulous," he said, "and my apologies to John. I was rude to him earlier, John Stamos. That was unnecessary. And Rob's an old friend, a brilliant actor, a beautiful man."
'The interview sounded a bit like a downbeat closing statement for Sheen -- until the very end, when he slightly amended the terms of his retirement from the press tour. "I wont do any interviews except you," he told Patrick. "How 'bout that?"

A bit harsh, aren't you? They're supposedly integrating better search features into the next version of Pages precisely to improve the researching component of writing. So it's not like I'm the only one who thinks that Pages needs more to better compare to Word. As it stands, I'll give Pages a shot if I need to do something fancier than writing for MFA workshops.
Plus, I save a couple of bucks.
Pages isn't Word. It doesn't try to be Word. For those of us who use Pages every day, this is actually a good thing.
As for being harsh, it seems like every time a thread on subject gets started, someone says Pages is only really suitable for newsletters, and not for "serious" writing. I find that most of the people who say this haven't gotten much past the template selection window. They see all those newsletter and flier templates and assume that this all Pages is good for. They've probably never created a template of their own and so are missing one of Pages' most powerful features.
Also, it almost never fails in these threads that someone says they'd be using Pages today if it only had certain features that it already has. I don't know that it's being "harsh" to correct the record, but if that's what it is, then I guess that's what I am...

Although Apple is behind Gateway in market share, Apple's earnings (not revenue, earnings) last quarter (not year, quarter) is pretty close to Gateway's market capitalization!
They're behind Gateway in number of units shipped. Gateway produces and ships more units than Apple.

THIS IS DISGRACEFUL !!!!!!!!!
With AT&T being the cell phone carrier that charges the most, they should be EXPECTED to provide the best quality service in the industry. If AT&T thinks 30% of all calls being dropped is "normal," this is absolutely unacceptable! So this means that of every ten phone calls to 911, 3 being dropped is "normal" and acceptable????? And major corporations with thousands of employees are supposed to sign up for cell service with AT&T, knowing that 30% of all calls (with customers) being dropped is, in AT&T's eyes, acceptable????????

Goes against Steve Jobs saying Lion was shipping this summer. What is your source ?
Until Apple says it's delayed, I'll believe Apple when they say it ships this summer.
OK, here is a historic example:
"Apple missed Leopard's release time frame as originally announced by Apples CEO Steve Jobs. When first discussed in June Jobs had stated that Apple intended to release Leopard at the end of 2006 or early 2007. A year later, this was amended to Spring 2007; however on 12 April Apple issued a statement that its release would be delayed until October 2007 because of the development of the iPhone."
(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X_Leopard)
I do not believe that Adobe, Microsoft and other big companies need just a few months to make their apps Lion-compatible. Will Apple release Lion, if major companies do not support it? Unlikely. Q1 2012 is more likely.

I voted "yes" becuase I'm concerned what this will do PR-wise for Apple, not so much about actual security concern. "LMH" may claim he's not an Apple-hater but a few things poke out from the interview:
The Linux kernel takes little time to break. I'm more familiar with the code and thus it also takes less time to isolate issues. OS X kernel (XNU) takes less time but depending on the area you're checking, debugging and isolation may require a bit more time (if you take into account that AppleTalk source code is almost unreadable and totally deprecated) [...] I didn't have much time left for working on Microsoft Windows but I've received the most helpful feedback from the MSRC people on potentially interesting stuff to check.

I don't buy from either of these any more after being introduced to Gomusicnow.com (or any of the other 25 similar sites). 9 cents per song, or ~$.80-$1.5 per ALBUM. Quality 320 for most newer albums and 220-300 for older. Can't beat it.
