This thread made me puke a little in my mouth. The people in this thread who use a person's life as their own entertainment constantly commenting on his every move. Not surprising it's the same people who post the same inane judgements on just about every other celebrity.

You went up in arms about the itunes logo, but when a mockup is truly horrible, you praise it? This is about the worst mockup i've ever seen.

Maybe they're afraid of yet again having to face the embarassment of having first bashed a design and said it looks like a cheap chinese knock-off and then doing a 180 degree turn when it turns out it's Apples own design, it's a precautionary measure.
(For the record, I never liked the 3G/3GS design, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the leaked iP4 images and loved it when it turned out to be the actual thing, and if this ugly abomination turns out to be an actual Apple product I loose all respect for Apple)

How are they different? They are both round with a 3D look and have a triangle with the same alignment and angles in the middle. They even perform the same function, to start playback of media content. Are you really going to nitpick about the colors? That's not different enough, Apple should definetely sue.
If you clear your cache and refresh, you'd see the image you are hotlinking to isn't displaying. ;)

Things I was trying to encourage him to keep awfully to himself back on page 2... Seriously, we need to stop enabling fat people. I say that as an ex-fat person with a high risk of gaining back my weight.
A huge problem (no pun intended) in America is the gigantic portions masquerading as meals in fast-food and casual restaurants. Some of the dishes available at very popular chains are absolutely ridiculous in size. Yet we buy them because they are a "good value." And let's face it - more often than not, we make a pretty good run at finishing off our plates, don't we? Unfortunately, that's just continuing the validation of the portion sizes...
I was in Reston Virginia for training a year ago. One thing I like about the US, is that all restaurants have their nutritional information posted somewhere. Here you have to almost kill someone to get it.
Anyway, me and the guy I'm with walk into Champps (http://www.champps.com/) at diner time one evening. Here's the nutritional info : http://www.champps.com/Portals/3/Website%20Nutritionals%200710-1.pdf. I had looked it up earlier since I was in full blown weight loss mode and had made my pick (another very important weight control technique, choose what you'll eat ahead of time when going out). I ordered the Salmon BBQ chopped salad (1155 calories) (which was delicious) and ate half of it. Half the salmon, half the actual salad, half the sauce, approximately of course. That was still close to 550 calories.
My co-worker laughs it up, says he'll just get an appetizer instead of a dumb salad and it'll taste better and be less fattening. He ordered the Miles High Nacho, with Chili of course. Luckily, he never managed to eat more than a quarter of it. Yep, a close to a quarter of a 3300 calories. That plate has almost 1 lbs gain for a person!

It's not, actually. Every time a change in the phone comes out, the manufacturer has to make new cases to reach those new customers, necessitating new tools/molds/whatever (so more cost on their end). Any manufacturer would prefer that the same case worked for all iPhone4s because then they would only have to spend the manufacturing dollars once to reach a every iPhone4 customer. Plus, less confusion when people are buying cases.
So what you are telling me is: An iPhone 4 comes out and I buy a case. Incase makes $20. An iPhone 5 comes out the same size and I don't buy a case because I have an old one and Incase makes $0. How is that better for Incase exactly?

Vista looks like OS X so switching wouldn't be as big a pain.:)
Except that getting a computer that will run Vista WELL (not just "run" it) will be a pain in your wallet, probably more expensive than a mac for a while (unless you just dual boot it :) ). The other problem is that you would have to rebuy all of your software, mess with all of the incompatibilities with Vista and the constant performance and security updates, hope that WGA doesn't conk out on you, etc. Trust me, the bundle of fun that is Vista is just too much for most :p.

It wouldn't make sense for the iPhone 5 to have the same design as the iPhone 4. Think about it. You have two great phones out now, the iPhone 4 and the new white iPhone 4. Apple's main goal is to make money. With that many phones sold, would it make more sense to sell another phone that looks exactly the same as the one many people have or give them something completely new to upgrade or buy off contract to?
Last quarter... people were buying iPhones at a rate of over 200,000 per day. It doesn't matter what they look like... or what time of year it is... Apple will sell iPhones.
Even if the iPhone 5 looks the same but has upgraded hardware inside when it comes out in September... someone will buy it just like someone bought the iPhone 4 from January to March.

### Alienware is still significantly better in terms of performance specs. For $2700, you can build an Alienware with RAID HDs, etc. Biggest question for me is...is Apple still underclocking the GPU on the 15" model...??? To me, Apple's MBPs aren't as good as a value as their Mac Pro, but with this update, Apple's "in the ballpark"...and I would get the MBP over the Alienware...assuming Autodesk releases a UB of Maya soon. My two cents...

The Gartner report released yesterday had Dell and HP virtually tied for first place with 17.2% market share each (HP ever so slightly higher) and the IDC one had HP 300k units (or 0.2%) ahead.
Dell are still #1 in the USA, but even there the gap narrowed, from Dell having a 2.2 million unit lead in the previous quarter to a 1.5 million unit lead in the quarter just ended.
HP are really leaping ahead. I expect they will take the US #1 spot back from Dell sometime next year.

I hope MobileMe will be free. Syncing with Google via exchange on iOS is decent but there are too many quirks, like not being able to put in custom fields for contacts phone numbers and email addresses (i.e. John Home), and archiving messages when the trash can button is pressed, etc. Also, I want to move away from google calendar because it has been so unreliable these days. So sick of seeing "Oops, we were unable to save this event. Please try again later" after I just spent 2 minutes typing it all in.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".

I think there is a hole in this argument/dream. Apple has spent considerable time and marketing money in the Made for iPod campaign that centers arounds the dock connector. They have created the Universal dock and inserts for all recent iPods, promising to keep these updated with all new iPods in the foreseeable future. Therefore, I seriously doubt these new no touch iPods wouldn't have at least a dock connector. .
The new Nike-Apple collaboration shows how Apple could get around this - simply a female dock receptacle, bluetooth (or whatever) configured to replace the physical dock connection. It would work for automobile interfaces, the iPhoto connection etc.
Apple could make a ton of cash "this simple connector - only available from Apple - allows all your iPod accessories to communicate with our new iMonolith iPod"... very 2001:)

Well then...if this is the case, who needs XP or Vista? I may just install Windows RG on my macbook pro when I get it. And yes...we educated Windows RG users use only the best hardware. I'll be waiting for C2D too. :)

Looks very un-Apple to me. Yeah, same basic resemblance but I don't see the iPhone looking like that. I agree with previous posters, impossible hands-free talking without a headset. Why wouldn't they do away with a home button and make touch screen extend down further and have the full width be an area for gestures rather than that confined area shown in the horrible mock-up. Or better yet, enable the entire screen to recognize specific gestures as we've already been doing for years in apps themselves? And even like side-swipe to change to the next page of apps. Just brainstorming.
