My only problem is there doesn't seem to be an education discount right now on the new iPods. Just 249 and 349.

Wouldn't a more relevant comparison be Apple and HP since they are both hardware companies and MS really isn't in the same category hardware wise?

Wonder how long this item will remain here...the one on Engadget managed about 7 minutes. ;)
Look at the latest thread. The haters act as if they are going to shoot Vlad Savov (Engadget) for removing that article.
lol
On a serious note, I need an explanation for this.

new here to the forums.
i've been patiently waiting for the MBP to be updated before i ordered but wanted to jump on the iPod deal as well which ends the 16th
if one was to place an order and then these are announced the following week, would Apple upgrade you to the comparable machine?
If the new one is announced before your order ships, it will be automatically upgraded. Otherwise, you should return the unopened product within 2 weeks of purchase for a free upgrade.

They should respond with an original product line.
And yes there will be people who say "apple isn't the first to come up with idea X". Nonsense. Apple takes several new ideas (some their own making, others not) and brings them together to make a new product. Apple takes a risk that their large investment will pay off and that a new product line will emerge. They do not do small production runs with these new products.
No one else made a tablet with the bells and whistles of the ipad that came together with the user experience one expects now on a tablet and produced it in such large quantities hoping a new market would emerge with great demand.
Apple could have simply said netbooks are the safe bet, lets do that. But they didn't.
Going forward, every tablet is going to be similar. That is fair enough. But when I look at the samsung devices, I feel like there is nothing really new about the user experience. It looks very similar to the ipad; more than one would expect. Creative companies would at least try to do something original.

The article you are quoting was published two years ago....
Oh you are right, i didn't really check the date. But am sure it's somewhat related to this, since Woo was to invest some serious money to win the market, and now he has the serious money he needs.
100m is still a massive amount of cash, but only roughly 1/100 of Apples total cash. And Apple has gained a couple of things too like the 'made for iPod' logo on their No.1 competitor, which only standardizes the iPod even more.
Also the most important thing they gained is that they are now 'co-owners' of the patent. And when Creative decides to sue somebody else for patent infringement (Zune), Apple will join the fun too and am sure in that case they'll get most of their money back.

WOW this is a major privacy breach.
How so. The phone is recording where it goes. There is no proof that it is sending that information to anyone.
And how likely is it that you are going to be careless with your iphone and/or the computer you sync it to. Particularly without a passcode lock on your iphone to protect your personal data.
Apple has provided the means to lock your phone, to auto wipe it if someone can't guess your pass code in several times and even to turn off location services and refuse app by app to allow them to use your location. Plus you can encrypt the back ups to your computer.
Unless you can prove they are transmitting that data to another party without your permission what wrong is Apple doing, what are they breaching.

Maybe not, but why do I think Apple could have bought the entire company for that kind of dough?
They still can. Apple can turn around tomorrow and buy Creative for what it's worth and would have in essence paid itself the $100M. :D

Here in New Zealand the age for driving is 15, but they've upped it to 16 and are thinking of putting it up to 17 because of drivers like the OP.
DL like the OP have caused rules to change in TX I know over the years. Right now when you turn 16 you can get a graduated DL that has quite a few extra restriction on it.
Not really exactly sure what they as i was not directly effect but I think it was like you can not have more than 1 unrelated person under the age of 18/21 in your car. No cell phone use at all, no driving at night unless going 2 or from school function/work. It is an improvement but still sadly we need more due to crappy drivers who think they are all that like the OP.

Reasonably plausible - by then, Nokia will probably have a dozen suck-phones that are roughly comparable to *today's* phones that'll all run WP7 and sell like hotcakes in the developing world...

last three macbook pro updates were:
june of 2009
april of 2010
february of 2011
so... next is december of 2012... or if it takes even longer it would be jan-feb 2012
though i don't think that it will take longer than 10 months
because before the last three updates they were updated even more often than 10 months.
getting the back to school deal with a free ipod touch is really tempting... but.... so is a redesign

Cross the 8GB black iPod nano with a decent phone, add bluetooth earphones, and maybe even put in GPS, and we have a winner.

Am I missing something from this? You're using a screenshot of Windows showing file types and the only thing showing the use of the term "Application" is on iTunes related files?
How does that prove your point? I really don't know if I missed what you were actually trying to convey? It's kinda like when someone is horribly wrong and because of that you start to question yourself if you were even right in the first place.
Thought it was clear so I'll try again.

Notice the iTunes.exe in the middle? It being the actual program but is denoted as Application.;)

So?
The other company has got Apple trade marked. They are both in common use but are protected when used in the computer industry.
http://www.apple.com/legal/trademark/appletmlist.html

Apple isnt using Ms for using the term windows, something apple said way before MS. You also dont see apple using MS for using Word, or OFFICE either.
MS can NEVER be orginial they just steal ideas from apple.
Like I said, they could easily call their app store WinApp Store or even Mobile App Store and it would be fine, but they want to be cute and copy apple and just call it app store.

Really do hope the option of a fully loaded iMac is well specced and not just the inclusion of TB and the processor. For the money Ill be spending Im expecting 8Gb RAM as standard and a rather meaty GPU. Roll on tuesday!

Haha. Silver. Collector's edition?
Athlete's edition, I reckon, given a piece of silver weighs around 4 times more than a piece of aluminum of the same volume.
